Happy Diwali from Bright Sparks

Diwali is a happy time for the children at Bright Sparks. They love making Diwali cards and decorations. Some draw pictures of their home and family. Others do incredibly fine, colourful decorating on diya lamps. Everyone wears their best clothes and puts up sparkly decorations to celebrate the Festival of Light.

All over India, amazing rangoli floor decorations are made to welcome guests. Here are ex-Bright Sparks students Suraj, Sukanti and Jyoti preparing one at Bright Sparks a couple of years ago. Sukanti (centre) has wonderful art skills. She wants to be a fashion designer. Her beautiful rangoli designs are shown below. Suraj (left) has just started his B.Eng degree course in Computer Science at Chandigarh University, for which Bright Sparks is currently raising funds.

Diwali donations are coming in now, many of them in response to the Diwali ‘spices’ offer. So far we have sent off nearly 70 Diwali packs and there has been a lot of activity through Justgiving. In Mohali, despite the difficulties of lockdown, school work has continued at home, supported by our wonderful teachers.

So there is a fantastic amount to celebrate! Thank you to EVERYONE for all your input, good wishes and support. Please sign up to our new blog for updates.

Happy Diwali everyone!!!
