On a bitterly cold foggy day in January, three of us arrived in Mohali from the UK. ‘We’ being returning volunteers Kate Foster and Jack Butcher, and trustee Marion Rose. We were relieved when the next day was a tad warmer and we could join the Republic Day celebrations at Bright Sparks School in warm-ish sunshine.
Poems were said, dances performed and songs sung by the students, including a delightful rendering of ‘Happy to be here’ by a Y2 line-up. Ex-students returned to speak to the school about their own journeys (and even to sing a little!). Volunteers from UK and India flagged up projects to come. All in all, everyone seemed very happy to be here. Watch out for a few more short posts from India in the coming weeks.
